C-19 Reflection #56: Focus
C~19 Daily Reflection (#56)
Theme: Focus
Scripture Reading:
Galatians 2:19-21
19 “For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God. 20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. 21 I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!”
Reflection:
When I think about this defining expression of faith from the Apostle Paul, I am reminded of the quintessential teaching of the Quakers, expressed in the focus of their founder, George Fox, who famously warned,” Let nothing come between your souls and God but Jesus Christ.”
As you read these mysterious insights from two original spiritual thinkers, mull them over in your heart.
Maybe also take time to ask in God’s presence, what are the things of body, mind, and soul or of my perspectives, priorities, preoccupations, patterns, passions or plans that threaten to get in the way of this most precious presence?
Prayer:
“Lord, search me and know me today, and help me to know you better, who dwells in me. As this happens, help me to know myself better.”
