C-19 Reflection #32: Letting Go of Worry/ Receiving the Word
C-19 Resource (#32)
Theme: Letting Go of Worry/ Receiving the Word
Scripture: Philippians 4:6-7
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
Reflection:
Scripture is likened to various resources – lamp, light, truth, food, strength …… Take some time to add to that list. Think about how our lives are dependent on these gifts of scripture, maybe especially these days, and make room for allowing them to go deep within you, so that they can do the work in you that you couldn’t do yourself.
I’m not sure if this is true for you, but certain scriptures are rising to the top of my attention during these days, some from my own prayer and reflection, some come to me in texts, emails or conversations with others. Along with various Psalms, parts of Isaiah’s prophecy, Habakkuk and several streams in John’s writing, Paul’s letter to the Philippians keeps showing up on my radar.
Something about the context, purpose and particular expressive insight of this letter is encouraging me to quiet my own voice in order to listen to the timely voice of God coming through the Apostle’s Christ centered guidance and care.
I encourage you to do the same, and especially to notice just now how these wonderful passages in Philippians seem to speak for themselves so clearly, in a kind of “jumping off the page” kind of way.
“ Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand.”
