C-19 Reflection #52: The Spirituality of Parks

C-19 Reflection (#52)

Theme: The Spirituality of Parks

Scripture: Zechariah 8:1-4

The Lord Promises to Bless Jerusalem

1 The word of the Lord Almighty came to me.

This is what the Lord Almighty says: “I am very jealous for Zion; I am burning with jealousy for her.”

This is what the Lord says: “I will return to Zion and dwell in Jerusalem. Then Jerusalem will be called the Faithful City, and the mountain of the Lord Almighty will be called the Holy Mountain.”

This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Once again men and women of ripe old age will sit in the streets of Jerusalem, each of them with cane in hand because of their age.

The city streets will be filled with boys and girls playing there.”

Reflection Questions:

1. Empty parks and taped off play areas have been a characteristic of the recent state of emergency.

Why are parks so important to the lives of people in the city? What do we lose when these spaces are not available for use?

2.  How do parks reflect the blessing of God in a neighbourhood?

3. How can the promise and vision in this passage shape your prayers for the present situation?
