C-19 Reflection #30: Open Hands

C19 Resource (#30)

Theme: Open Hands

 Scripture: Psalm 28:1-2

To you, Lord, I call;

    you are my Rock,

do not turn a deaf ear to me.

For if you remain silent,

I will be like those who go down to the pit.

Hear my cry for mercy

as I call to you for help,

as I lift up my hands

    toward your Most Holy Place.

Proverbs 31:20

She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy.

Mark 8:25

Once more Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.

Reflection:

Our hands are indispensable gifts for cultivating and communicating our life with God.

With open hands we receive and give.

With open hands we release and relinquish.

With open hands we bless and heal.

With open hands we pray and praise.

With open hands we wait and listen.

With open hands we surrender our lives.

*Closed hands and clenched fists represent a whole different thing.

Prayer:

Lord God, who opens your hands to the world.

I offer my hands back to you today.

~

With the Spirit’s help, I open my hands.

With my open hands, I surrender myself to you.

~

With my open hands, I receive the gift of the day.

With my open hands, I offer you praise and thanks.

With my open hands, I wait and listen.

With my open hands, I eat and drink.

With my open hands, I participate in my work and pray.

With my open hands, I offer healing and service.

~

With my open hands, I surrender myself to you.

In Jesus' name, I open my hands.

Amen.
