C-19 Reflection #26: ”The Way of Relinquishing” (1)

C19 Reflection (#26)

Theme: ”The Way of Relinquishing” (1)

Reflection:

For the next little while, I would like to hunker down in the single theme of relinquishing. Each day, for several days, we will try to explore the way of relinquishing from a different angle.

Due to the unique circumstances of the season we find ourselves in, it might seem like we are already being forced to relinquish many things against our will. But God’s way in the world seems more about inviting us than it is about forcing us. Even still, this doesn’t mean that the way of relinquishing is easy for us.

Let’s begin this mini – journey together by allowing Psalm 131 to help us get a feel for relinquishing:

God, I’m not trying to rule the roost,

I don’t want to be king of the mountain.

I haven’t meddled where I have no business

    or fantasized grandiose plans.

I’ve kept my feet on the ground,

    I’ve cultivated a quiet heart.

Like a baby content in its mother’s arms,

my soul is a baby content.

Wait, Israel, for God. Wait with hope.

    Hope now; hope always!

Psalm 131 (The Message)

Reflection Question: How does this Psalm give us an initial glimpse into the way of relinquishing?
